Midsummer is a competitive card game about crafting flower crowns for iconic characters from classic Swedish Midsummer songs. These characters include: the baker, the chimney sweeper, the three old ladies, the little frogs and pigs, the three musicians from Skaraborg, Andersson, Petterson, Lundstr m, and even you. The goal of the game is to claim these characters by crafting their flower crowns. The characters each request a specific combination of flowers gathered from the meadow. There are always five characters and five flowers in the play area. Players take turns interacting with the communal meadow, which contains five flower cards. On your turn, you may play flowers into the meadow (or sometimes pick from the meadow) to work toward completing one of the characters requested crowns. If, at the end of your turn, all required flowers for a character are present in the meadow, you may claim that character for points. A more precise arrangement earns extra points. If the flowers in the meadow match the exact pattern shown on a character card, you may, in addition to claiming that character card, also tuck a flower card under your pillow according to Midsummer tradition. (The legend says that by tucking seven unique flowers under your pillow on Midsummer night, you will dream of your future spouse.) The game ends when the flower deck is depleted. Players then total the points from the characters they claimed and the number of unique flowers under their pillow. The player with the highest score wins.
