In Excel ncia, each player is a unit counselor in a Pathfinders club (Desbravadores), leading young members through a year of activities. Using a deck of 87 cards in five colors, players start with a Captain card and a hand of five cards. On their turn, a player performs one action: draw a card, invite a Pathfinder or Instructor to their unit by paying a card cost, complete a specialty by paying its color cost (Instructors in your unit reduce the cost of matching-color specialties), use their Captain's special ability, or play an action card for a one-time effect. When a Pathfinder collects three specialties, the player earns a Class card matching that color combination. Since a Pathfinder can only earn one Class, players must recruit new members to earn additional Classes. The game ends when someone completes their second Class or the draw pile runs out (once for 2–3 players, twice for 4–5). After the trigger, one final full round is played. Players then score points from each specialty's unique condition (e.g., 2 points per blue specialty, 2 points per green person, or 2 points per compass icon), plus stars on Class cards and Campori trump cards earned mid-game. The highest score wins the Excellence Badge, with ties broken by most Classes, then largest unit.
