This game is playable with a standard deck of cards. Story: The Frog King is planning his retirement. Unsure which of his 2 children should replace him, he creates a competition. Over 4 rounds, the potential heirs must use strategy and tactics to outscore their sibling. The winner will take the throne. Overview: Leapfrog is a trick-taking game for 2 players. Each player plays 2 cards to each trick, following suit if possible. Each time a player wins a trick, they ll move clockwise 1 space onto the next lily pad. If the next lily pad is occupied, they ll leapfrog over them to the next available space. Each lily pad has a value on it, and players score that many points at the end of the hand. Each player has access to a couple powers that can advance the neutral King Frog token onto the next lily pad, or have the weakest suit in the hierarchy leap to become the strongest suit. The highest card in the strongest suit will win the trick…usually. If there are 1 or more cards in the same suit & in sequence to the would-be trick winner, the lowest card will leapfrog to victory. For example, if a 1, 7, 3, and 8 of clubs are played, the 7 is in sequence to the 8 and the 7 wins the trick. If that 1 & 3 were actually 5 & 6, the 5 would leapfrog the 6-7-8 to win the trick. —description from the designer
