JADO 02-A (Joint All Domain Operation: Northeast Naval-Air) is an operational-scale modern wargame designed by Gavin Hu and published by War Drum Games. As the "Naval-Air" component of the series' Northeast theater, the game focuses on high-tech maritime and aerial warfare within the Korean Peninsula and surrounding waters. It simulates the complexities of contemporary "joint all-domain" operations, where electronic warfare, missile strikes, and information superiority are as critical as traditional firepower. The game utilizes a "heavy techno-focus" engine on an operational scale, with 4-hour turns and hexes representing 75 kilometers. Players manage high-stakes engagements through an interactive sequence of phases, including routine patrols, air defense readiness, and ballistic missile deterrence. Combat is resolved using a d10-based system that emphasizes the interaction between a platform s Radar Cross Section (RCS), its electronic protection modules, and the specific capabilities of modern weapon units like supersonic anti-ship missiles. A defining feature of the JADO series is its "Informationized" counter design. Each counter is dense with data, often double-sided to represent different operational modes; for example, ship counters display general movement and air defense on the front, while their offensive strike and detection capabilities are found on the reverse. Units represent individual large ships (over 6,000 tons), groups of smaller combatants, or squadrons of 10-12 aircraft, each tracked with separate cards for formation management and ammunition expenditure. Beyond kinetic combat, JADO 02-A deconstructs modern military theory into eight distinct simulation modules. These range from "Emergency Combat Readiness Takeoff" to "Deterrence Warning" and "Anti-Ship Strike" missions. The game can be played as a standalone Naval-Air simulation or combined with its companion land set (JADO 02-B) to provide a complete, multi-domain picture of modern conflict in the Northeast Asian theater.
