The Market is open. Your hand is your life force. Spend it wisely—because in Shadow Market, poverty is death. Shadow Market is a fast, closed-economy auction game for 3–4 players using a standard 52-card deck. Every card is a finite resource, and every decision leaves a scar. Your hand is your health, your currency, and your defense—run out, and you re at the mercy of the table. The game is driven by a brutal Winner Pays auction system. Players bid blindly on valuable Market cards. Losers return their bids to hand—but the winner must discard everything they wagered to the void. Winning feels good… until you realize you ve permanently weakened yourself for the rest of the game. Beyond bidding, players can burn mid-value cards to trigger powerful suit abilities—digging for better options, accelerating their economy, or stealing directly from rivals. Every turn forces a painful choice: draw to survive, spend to score, or gamble your future for immediate power. Shadow Market is short, sharp, and unforgiving. Games end in a tense final auction with no safety net and no second chances. Victory often comes down to who managed their losses best—not who grabbed the most early rewards. If you enjoy cutthroat auctions, meaningful player interaction, and games where every card matters, Shadow Market rewards repeat plays and hard lessons learned. —description from the designer
