Pippins Aplenty is traditional-pack trick-taker for four players, where the hierarchy of trump suits, and the value of captured cards, changes over the course of each deal. Playing in partnerships, trickplay follows Whist-like rules. Play initially starts without trumps. After each trick, the lowest rank played that is higher than any existing trump-setting cards ('reaches') sets the new highest trump suit. The rank of this card also sets the scoring threshold - all cards above this are worth nothing. Points are scored by cards won in tricks - lower-ranked trump suits are worth more points than higher ones, and ranks represented in reaches earn bonus points. Score is traditionally kept on a Cribbage board, with play as first to surpass a pre-agreed total, with 600 as standard.
