Description

Forecasts is a 3–4 player trick-taking game of prediction, timing, and shared pressure. At the start of each round, players secretly forecast whether the final temperature will end Hot or Cold. Over a series of tricks, players use skillful card play to push temperature cubes between Hot, Neutral, and Cold, gradually building pressure toward one outcome or disrupting their opponents plans. Winning tricks does not score points directly. Instead, players must decide when to create uncertainty and when to lock in a forecast, using the shared temperature state to their advantage. Neutral conditions can delay scoring, while well-timed plays convert pressure into points. After 10 tricks, players score based on how many cubes end in the bucket they forecast, with a small bonus for correctly predicting the dominant outcome. Over four rounds, the most accurate and adaptable meteorologist wins. Forecasts rewards strong trick-taking fundamentals, careful timing, and reading both the table and your opponents. It plays in 30–45 minutes and offers high interaction with low randomness and strong recoverability. Why Should I Play This Game? You should play Forecasts if you like: Trick-taking games where winning the right tricks matters more than winning the most Prediction games that reward reading the table, not guessing Interactive games where every player affects a shared outcome Tight scoring with real tension, not runaway blowouts Games where denial, timing, and subtle pressure matter more than luck Forecasts is not about explosive turns or sudden reversals. It s about building momentum, managing uncertainty, and knowing when to commit. Skilled players can recover from mistakes, outplay opponents late, and influence outcomes even when they are not winning tricks themselves. If you enjoy games like Whist, Spades, or Hearts, but want something that adds strategic forecasting and shared-state manipulation, Forecasts offers a fresh, competitive twist. —description from the designer
