Description

The duties never end for the managers of the Candlewick Inn, a comfy country cottage serving the cute critters of the Evergreen Forest. The days hum with the arrival of new guests eager to sample the rich desserts your restaurant is famous for. You ll fill their little bellies to the brim before sending them off to a cozy suite for a pleasant night s slumber. Unfortunately for them, it could be their last! You see, the inn was built over a rift where unspeakable cosmic horrors can squeeze into our world. The only thing keeping these terrifying creatures from bursting free and devouring you (and literally everyone else) is a nightly meal of fuzzy forest-dwellers stuffed with their favourite sweet treats. This is the dark side of the job that they don t mention in innkeeping college. Can you sate your monster s drooling hunger each night, run the restaurant inn by day, and somehow keep your guests blissfully unaware of the danger looming below? In Killing With Kindness, you work as a manager of the Candlewick, assigning staff to different areas of the hotel to perform actions. Each action is associated with one location (Lobby, Kitchen, Dining Room, Suites, and Basement) and one staff member (Concierge, Chef, Server, Bellhop, and Housekeeper). When you assign a staff member, you ll get to perform two actions… one for the staff, and one for the location they re in. Over the day you will welcome new guests, serve them delicious sweet treats, and make sure they re comfortable in a room for the night. You ll also deal with the inevitable messes and mishaps that are part of the job when mixing hospitality and interdimensional sacrifice. Generate as much kindness as you can with your activities, because if things get too terrifying around the hotel, your staff members might get incidentally gobbled up (which is no good for anyone, especially them). When dusk arrives, direct your horror to devour specific guests that will best satisfy its dark desires. Once full, it will slink away and a new evil monstrosity will creep into your care, with fresh preferences for tomorrow s grim feast. After three nights of work, one anxious manager will earn the most points and the dubious honour of the Candlewick Inn Employee of the Week. Can you satisfy both the hotel s cheery unsuspecting guests and its lurking demonic denizens better than the competition? —description from the designer
