Description

Arcanists Array is a two-player strategy game about shaping probability and outthinking your opponent. Two rival arcanists face off in a quiet laboratory, activating powerful spell arrays through carefully prepared magical dice. Instead of rolling standard dice, players rebuild their dice faces every round, turning randomness into something that can be planned, bent, and exploited. Each round begins with both players secretly choosing and ordering spell arrays that define how the round might be won. Before any dice are rolled, players simultaneously decide how many dice to use and how to configure them, all behind a screen. Dice are then rolled openly, and spell arrays resolve in a fixed order. Because most arrays care about all dice on the table, your opponent s dice often matter as much as your own. Stronger arrays can override weaker ones, while failed or tied effects may push the round forward, creating tense layers of prediction and counterplay. Players share a tug-of-war style life track, and the goal is to push it completely to the opponent s side. Winning a round forces a meaningful choice: directly interfere with the opponent by taking and exchanging dice faces, or grow your own options by gaining access to more spell arrays. There is no guaranteed best move—playing too safely can be punished, and playing too boldly can backfire. Success depends on reading intentions, managing risk, and sometimes choosing to be unpredictable on purpose. —description from the designer
