Description

Dice in the Dirt is a two-player tactical skirmish game set in a grounded wartime environment, where small squads fight for control of a dense, modular battlefield. The game focuses on pressure, positioning, and moment-to-moment decision-making rather than large-scale combat or abstract scoring. Each player commands a squad of six soldiers, with each soldier filling a distinct role. Soldiers activate through a shared blind-bag system rather than a fixed turn order, creating uncertainty and shifting momentum throughout the game. On activation, players spend limited action points to move, fire, use equipment, or manage suppression. Combat emphasizes controlling space and disrupting the opponent rather than simply eliminating units. Suppression plays a central role in gameplay, limiting enemy movement and actions and forcing difficult choices under pressure. Because activations are unpredictable, players must constantly adapt their plans, balancing aggression with caution while managing the tempo of the fight. The game is won by completing scenario objectives and denying the opponent control of key areas of the battlefield. Victory depends on effective use of each soldier s role, careful positioning, and the ability to respond to changing conditions as the battle unfolds. -description from designer
