Hex Factor is a fast-paced abstract puzzle game for 1-4 players in which you are racing to claim territory by solving puzzles. You use colorful, wooden hexagonal tiles as puzzle pieces to try to replicate the black and white clusters of hexes — the puzzles — on shared game boards. The tiles and the game board hexes have the same symbols in the middle (circle, star, hex) — that s what you re trying to match. But each tile is bi-colored (half violet, half yellow, for example), and you can only put the colorful tiles alongside each other WITH LIKE-COLORS TOUCHING (blue against blue, etc.) There is no turn order. All players work at the same time. Each player starts with 10 tiles randomly pulled from the box lid. You will try to find a puzzle cluster on one of the game boards that you think you can replicate using the tiles you have. Once you have a puzzle cluster solved, hurry up and claim that cluster (before one of your opponents does) by placing one of your 5 personal Marker-Cubes onto it. That puzzle can t be solved again now that you ve claimed it. Now replace the tiles you just used with new ones from the box lid, so that you always have 10 tiles. Game ends when any player has used all 5 of her player markers. Then add up points: 1 point for an easy hex, 2 for a medium, 4 for a tricky one. There are various bonus point opportunities to incentivize focusing on certain puzzles. These opportunities involve the mechanics of Area Majority and Set-Collection. The optional Attack Cards add a take-that dimension. —description from the publisher
