Game of the Christmas Jewel
1899
Published by McLoughlin Brothers
Board game where the object is to be the person to find the Christmas jewel and bring it to its home. Includes spinner and three wooden pieces (a man for each players, and the Christmas Jewel). Box cover depicts a young girl wearing a hat, and holding a jester doll, a ball and crackers. Uses a spinner to determine the length of a player's move on the outer track; once on the inner board, players move the number of spaces specified by the space they are currently on. Once one player has reached the centre and placed the Jewel token atop his piece, he tries to get home. If the other player can leap him by exactly one space, he takes the Jewel token and has an extra turn. —user summary
