In the wake of a forgotten industrial age, the world is still, beautiful, and reclaiming its rusted remains. Welcome Strangers is a card-driven journey game where players navigate a landscape both familiar and strange where nature and relic coexist. Your hand of cards is your Traveling Party, a mix of Trailblazaers, Guides, Pilgrims, Hearthbound, and Chroniclers, each with their own paths, kin, and desired destinations. Over the course of the game, you will lead these travelers to those destinations, playing them into your Journal—a 12-slot record of your trek across the Four Horizons (N,S,E,W). Upon arrival you will receive a blessing (a once off power) or score points based on their style: Trailblazers for collections of Horizons you've previously travelled, Hearthbound for colletions of Kin you have previously traveled with, Chroniclers for collections of Traveler classes, Pilgrims for their distance from other cards in your Journal, Guides for a combination of your Journal and travelers currently in your party. At each of the Four Horizons lives a face-up deck of Location cards. These set the current travel conditions, which can be of benefit or provide a challange to visiting the location. At each Location you'll also find a few travelers waiting face-up. Once at a location, and after scoring points, you will then exchange 1-2 card/s from your hand with card/s at the location, rearranging your party for the next leg of your journey and potentially completing the event at the Location by discarding the right symbols. If you do complete an event, you claim the location, flip it, and it becomes an boon, or an end game goal. At the end of each turn you will visit the inn and draw or discard cards back to 5 travelers. Welcome Strangers is a game of hand management and tablesu building, where the cards are multi-use and precious resources. —description from the designer
