Description

In Color Forge, players use cards in hand to purchase additional cards (resources) and build their deck. They can then "combine" their resource cards in their deck to complete contracts, earning points and removing the combined resource cards. Players thereby lose resources which must be purchased back on future turns to continue the fulfillment cycle. In this way, Color Forge is a unique combination of deck building/shedding, contract fulfillment and resource management. Players race to complete contracts, collecting sets of specific contracts to score bonus points and earn a higher score than their competition. A "simple mode" variant is also available for those unfamiliar with set collection, allowing players to first grasp the flow of the game and gradually introduce other new mechanics. This game is suitable for players who are able to add together 3 small numbers (totaling between 3 and 15). The game also utilizes combining primary colors into secondary colors, though the design is such that no familiarity is required but can rather be learned through play. Alternatively, players who are colorblind and/or looking to use or learn multiplication skills of small numbers can use multiplication (of the numbers 2, 3 and 5) to forge cards in the same manner to complete contracts. This game is playable by both experienced and inexperienced players, and can be used to introduce the mechanics of deck-building, contract fulfillment and set collection, while also offering a some tactical depth and variability. —description from the designer
