Flails & Citadels is a new grimdark solo adventure compatible with Doom Pilgrim. It uses the same game mechanics as Doom Pilgrim, but offers more adventuring, with the focus on encounters and looting, compared to the original, which has a wider medieval setting scope, sometimes less appealing for a regular fan of fantasy games. A new feature in Flails & Citadels is cards have almost always some effect. While in Doom Pilgrim, quite often you just pass a card with no change in your character sheet (for example if you come to a town with no gold in your purse), in Flails & Citadels, cards usually have some effect for every condition you are in at the moment, which makes the game much more actionable and balanced. —description from the publisher
