The Breakthrough of Kampfgruppe Peiper is a solitaire game about the Piper Battles in the Battle of the Bulge. Players form a Piper Combat Team and aim to break through to the Meuse River by December 20 PM. However, as in history, U.S. resistance (mainly engineers) and fuel shortages will be major obstacles. Historical Note: Piper was completely encircled at La Gruez on the 22nd, but no further advance was possible as the 82nd Airborne Division launched a counterattack from the west on the 19th and the 3rd Armoured Division from the north on the 20th. Piper told the American prisoners that if they had crossed the river somewhere in Trois-Pont, they could have reached the Meuse in 19 days, so they set a time limit of one day for the game.
