Atomic Mass Games took over development of X-Wing from Fantasy Flight Games in November 2020. In 2022, AMG introduced several major rule changes, colloquially known as X-Wing 2.5 Edition, including: Scenarios replace dogfighting as the primary format; New list building rules -- ships have a squad point cost and a loadout value; Players roll each turn to determine player order; New overlap rules; New obstacle rules; and Primary attacks can be performed at range 0. AMG announced the end of development for the game on June 13, 2024.
