You are all children who have been brought to the State Fair on a crisp fall afternoon. Papa has put several bills in each of your hands and given you a list of delicious treats to go and find along the Midway. Running excitedly into the hustle and bustle of the fair, you can't help but take in the sights and smells of the food vendors selling their tantalizing food up and down the rows. You begin buying the things on Papa's list but you had better be careful as your arms fill up with your sweet smelling purchases, it will become harder and harder to get at your money and buy what you need as you come across it. Do your best and hurry before the Midway closes down at the end of the evening! In the game Fair Food Frenzy, you begin with a handful of cash and the teddy bear your mother told you to leave in the car at least three times. In this deck builder turned on its side, this becomes the starter deck you use on your turn to buy things from the Midway row placed in the center of the play area. On your turn, you can buy a food item if you have the money in your three card hand to do so or you can spend time shopping up and down the Midway rows, allowing you to redraw one of the treats presented on the Midway and perhaps find that special something you were looking for. Lastly, you can brave the trash barrel and see if luck will present you with what you seek. After all, Papa didn't specifically say his corn dog couldn't be from out of the trash, did he? As play continues, your deck will fill up with your purchases, making it more difficult to hold a hand of cards that will give you the buying opportunity you might need. Carefully shift around your carried items to get the money you need in your hands to buy the tantalizing treats your Papa ordered. As the Midway deck shrinks, you must work on fulfilling as many of the requests on Papa's list as you are able. Scoring smaller groups of fair food if you can get them all together in your hands will allow you to remove the purchases from your deck and thin it out. Your larger food orders will have to score at the end and may come down to making sure you remembered to buy everything on the checklist so you can grab even more points after the fair closes down for the evening! Will you focus on the orders you start with or take on more to earn extra points and maybe risk not being able to get all your purchases made before the carnival lights begin shutting down? This fun twist on deck building is medium to light in weight, easy to learn and teach, and gives players a number of fun, strategic ways to chase points for their end of game score. It also presents a fun way to learn how the deck building mechanic works for those who have not seen it before, all wrapped up in the indulgent fun of Fair Food! —description from the publisher
