Players choose which faction to play (brontosaurus, triceratops, pterodactyl, megalosaurus) and draw the top card from the Challenge deck to determine the winning conditions, such as three in a row, connect five, etc. Players take turns playing a card to the center of the table, trying to line up their dinosaurs, while also trying to block opponents by playing special action cards to move a card to another space or remove it from the grid. The first person to win three challenges wins.
