Kidnapping is a trick-taking where you have to NOT follow suit: A card in a suit that has already been played is a loser regardless of rank. The game is similar to the classic game Hearts. In Kidnapping, players put baby goats ( kids ) to sleep for the afternoon ( napping ). Players fill their hands with napping cards of four kinds: pillows, harps, lassoes and baseball bats. The goats differ, and many resist a rest from different sleep aids. Each trick, a random kid is drawn, and each player plays a card in turn. The first player wins by default, but subsequent players can win if their play is a new suit and is at least equal to the current winner. A round (called an afternoon) consists of ten randomly-selected kids, and each player gets one point for each kid they put to bed (each trick won). Afternoons continue until at least one player passes a pre-decided number of points. If there is 1-3 players, there is an artificial player. The game has 54 cards: 40 Napping cards and 14 Kid cards.
