Description

3OFF is an n-in-a-row/tic-tac-toe based strategy game with a twist. In 3OFF, each player must use their wits to solve a paradox involving eight tokens. Specifically, to win 3OFF, a player must remove all eight of their game tokens from a 4x4 game board. However, before doing this, tokens must be (strategically) lined up vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, in sets of 3 or 4 in a setup phase. Then starting with White(0) and alternating with Black(X), all eight tokens must then be removed, 3 at a time, before your opponent accomplishes the same. The paradox itself, involves the need to reintroduce removed tokens to the board to ultimately win. To make matters even worse (or perhaps more fun!), this paradox must be resolved in the context of what your clever opponent does. After the setup phase, each player chooses 1 of four actions on their turn that include: -REMOVING 3 OF YOUR OWN TOKENS (that are lined up horizontally, diagonally, or vertically) -REMOVING 1 OF YOUR OPPONENT'S TOKENS (via a one-space, diagonal displacement of your opponent's token with your unmarked token) -MOVING 1 OF YOUR OWN TOKENS (to any empty space lined up horizontally, diagonally, or vertically from the position of the token you wish to move; no jumping over other tokens allowed except when moving your unmarked token to an empty space) -ADDING BACK 1 OF YOUR REMOVED TOKENS (to any empty space) 3OFF can be played as though it were a solitaire puzzle via deciding whether you are going to win with White(O) or Black(X) beforehand. To make solitaire mode interesting, to the best of your ability, play until no alternative counter moves exist for the opposing side that would stop you from winning.
