A comprehensive simulation of Operation Desert Storm based upon newly declassified archives of the 1991 Gulf War. Desert Storm: The Hundred Hour War simulates the 1991 Persian Gulf War as a military conflict and also as a political contest prior to and during Operation Desert Storm. Better yet, the rules allow alternative Iraqi strategies that may have theoretically disrupted the Coalition invasion, but similarly allows for alternative Coalition strategies..which includes the possibility of a Coalition advance to Baghdad to remove Saddam Hussein from power. Highly researched and accurate, this game is a complete presentation of the Persian Gulf War on the land, in the air, and sea. The victory conditions are to achieve a military, political, and diplomatic victory, which is recorded on a map track called the Event Track. Players accomplish this by capturing and/or bombing map objectives, defeating enemy forces, and the skillful play of various event cards throughout the game. The Coalition player can either attempt the historic victory, or even attempt to drive straight to Baghdad and win that way, but fraught with all the difficulties of a longer war.
