Barbaria represents the history of the west (Europe, N. Africa, Near East) from the fall of the Roman Empire through the Mongol invasion, 406-1250 AD. Players control several nations (Britannia-like) with differing objectives. There are two versions using the same map, one using picture-dice combat, 6 turns, 90 minutes, one more detailed and using battle cards (no dice), 11 turns, up to 180 minutes. In both cases the point scoring is much simplified from Britannia--one 8.5 by 11 inch sheet shows all scoring and appearance, no "nation cards" needed.
