The National Game of the American Eagle
1844
Published by W. & S. B. Ives
This is a simple spin-and-move game which, like the famous "Mansion of Happiness," adapts the basic format of the 63-space Game of Goose to an Americanized morality theme: in this case, ascending to the American presidency through government. Green spaces are blanks, but white spaces provide some positive or negative quality or trait: "Patriotism," "Firmness," "Hypocrisy," "Duplicity," and so on. An accompanying rulebook provides instructions for most of these spaces, which usually involve advancing or retreating to another space or losing a certain number of turns. Colored counters (discs) and an 8-sided teetotum are also included.
