In The Soap Opera Game players are aspiring soap opera stars. They roll and move around New York City trying to collect bit acting parts and roles in commercials. Once a player has enough acting credits they can move to the central area of the board where they act in a soap opera and try to accumulate all the necessary plot elements: sex, health, disaster, marriage, economy, and crime. The first player to get all of these wins the game.
