Despite the explicit intention of the designer to invent a completely new, innovative game, it's based on chess. But considering he invented the game in the 30s of the last century, it s an impressive and complex idea. Before the actual playing starts, the board is assembled according to 3 dice. The 64 tiles form an 8 x 8 board showing sometimes a different landscape like wood, lakes and hills. There will be a river and a road. On each end of the road, there will be the own city of each player on his base line (the closest tiles). Each player has 8 (+2 for the advanced version) pawns. They have different moving patterns that are restricted by the actual landscape. Once during play, a player is entitled to a double move. The first player who conquers the city of his opponent or captures his "Stander" (like the king in chess) wins the game. —user summary
