Description

The trick-taking game スーパーマーケット (Supermarket) was released as part of the publisher ruri ruri games' (るりるりゲームズ) Autumn 2017 box of trick-taking games, titled トリテセット1 (Trick Taking Set 1). The game is player with a deck of 36 cards, consisting of ranks 1 to 9 in four suits. The cards also have a number of symbols on them, corresponding to the suit. The game uses a board which tracks how many symbols of each suit a player may score. Thematically, the players are determining the optimal ratios of shelving products in a supermarket, and players who exceed the position of a marker on the board have overfilled their shelves, with product falling on the floor. These limits on the board are determined once each round. Specifically, when at least one player has played a card of the same suit as was lead, the marker is placed on the position corresponding to the highest rank of this suit played to the trick, excluding the winning card. At the end of a hand, the player(s) who collected cards with the most symbols of each suit, without exceeding the limit, earn 1 point each. The players complete a number of rounds equal to the number of players, and the player with the most points wins.
