Description

Clash of Galleys! Fleets crash together in this simulation of large ancient naval battles. Maneuver your squadrons in tight formations to: Hurl Greek fire at your opponents! Blast them with archers and ballistas! Ram and rake them! Grapple and board to capture them! Clash of Galleys is a set of miniature naval rules for the era of oared warships, covering roughly 500 BC to 400 AD. The rules are written to be played with 1:1200 scale miniatures on a one and one half inch hex grid. (But components that allow Clash of Galleys to be played as a board game are provided in an Appendix.) The rules are intended for large battles of up to 50 or more ships on a side. Ships are organized into squadrons of 5 - 8 ships each. Each player normally plays one or two squadrons although experienced players could play more squadrons. Several scenarios are included with the rules. —description from the publisher
