Description
Whale Shogi was created by R. Wayne Schmittberger, the former editor of Games magazine. It is played on a 6x6 board, and the pieces are all named after sea mammals. Normal Shogi drop rules apply. The porpoise is the only piece that promotes. If the porpoise is captured, it must be promoted to a killer whale when it is dropped back on the board.
