Roku-Roku Shogi means 6-6 Shogi and is a Shogi variant using a 6x6 board and 12 standard shogi pieces for each player: 6 Pawns, 1 King, 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Knight, 1 Lance, and either 1 Rook or 1 Bishop. Pawns start at second and fifth rank. Players take turns placing their non-pawn pieces, one at a time, at the first and sixth rank, respectively. When all pieces are on board (and the left over Bishops or Rooks are returned to the box) play starts according to standard Shogi rules.
