In Strait of All Saints, a single player controls Magellan's fleet as it tries to find its way from the Atlantic to the Pacific, during the first circumnavigation of the globe. The player has to manage ships, crew and supplies, while discovering the then unknown strait as various events conspire to thwart the player at every turn. The player wins if the Pacific is discovered and reached by any one Ship. Combining exploration (tile laying), resource management (food, crew, wood, weapons) and dice rolling, Strait of All Saints conveys the sense of adventure and anticipation felt by the original expedition.
