Cluster's playing board consists of forty six holes, of which twenty four are shallow and twenty two are deep. There are sixteen playing pieces, eight white and eight black. Within the set of eight there are four short pieces and four long ones. If a long piece is placed in a deep hole and short piece in a shallow hole, the the tops of the two pieces will be level. The object of the game is to form a "cluster" before your opponent does. A cluster is when all of your pieces (one player has white and the other black) are in a group all next to each other and all of the tops of the pieces are at the same level.
