(Anniversary edition description) Chaos in China is a point-to-point game set on the Warlord era (1912-1930). Players take roles of various DaShuai(大帅,the usual honorific title for the viceroys) and try to gain the upper-hand in the struggle for power. Players are free to use diplomatic means to help them in their pursuit of power, but just like the historical events, the promise of Warlords is rarely kept, and there are no rules to bind those agreements. In this game, player gain funds by occupying cities, but could only gain renown (which determines the number of actions available each round) by controlling a full province. And the only way to control territory in this chaotic era is to maintain a garrison force in the space. While each block generally represents a division, different cliques have drastically different unit quality due to each Warlords method of organizing their troops. Some clique s troop are essentially bandits, while other cliques have access to elite regulars from the old BeiYang Army. To reflect this, each faction will be assigned a unit quality value, which will affect the to hit number used in battle. The game contains 8 scenarios, showcasing some of the most definite moments of the Warlord era: XinHai Revolution (2 Players) Constitutional Protection Movement (4 Players) North-South Negotiations (7 Players) The rise of Feng Yvxiang (3 Players) The Northern Expedition (5 Players) National Protection War (3 Players) Central Plains War (4 Players) Zhili–Fengtian War (2 Players) Components: 1 Mounted Map 1 Rulebook 178 cards 368 wooden blocks 71 counters 3 bunch of paper money 2 Player aid card 8 Dice This is an Chinese-made point to point card driven area movement game on the war of Chinese Reunification or more commonly known in the west as the Warlord era (1912-1928).
