From the box: 'After reading one of the 286 extracts from famous works of fiction, players must answer questions on what they have read. Unlike other question and answer games, no previous knowledge is required for play. Questions are graded for difficulty, starting with simple either/or answers and working up to real tests of memory and understanding. Points are scored for each correct answer and each player's progress is recorded on the unique 3-dimensional Echelon board. As well as being a test of memory, the game is also one of strategy and tactics as players compete to win valuable bonus points by being the first to answer questions at each echelon level.'
